Accessibility

What we do so that this website works for everyone, and how to tell us about a problem.

Last updated
27 October 2026

reporton aims to make reporton.org usable on any device, in any browser and with any assistive technology. This statement sets out what has been done, which shortcomings remain and how to report a problem.

Our approach

Accessibility is treated as part of building and maintaining this website, not as a separate project. Whenever a page is added or the design is changed, we check that the content can still be read with a screen reader, operated with a keyboard and enlarged in the browser. This statement covers the pages published under reporton.org.

Standards

We aim for conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. At present this site is only partially conformant: most content satisfies the guidelines, while the points listed below do not. Where a requirement cannot be met immediately, we look for another way of supplying the information.

Other ways to reach us

The website is not the only way to get information from reporton. You can call us on 01743 358 214 during business hours, write to [email protected] or send a letter to 14 Coleham Head Works, Shrewsbury SY3 7BJ; if a page does not work for you, we can read its content to you by telephone or send it as plain text.

Measures taken

Pages use semantic HTML: headings follow one order, lists are marked up as lists, and link texts stay meaningful out of context. Navigation and main content form separate regions, and the language of each page is declared for screen readers. Images that carry information have alternative texts, decorative ones are marked as such.

Colours are selected so that body text, links and buttons maintain a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1 against their background. Font sizes are expressed in relative units, so that text can be enlarged in the browser without content being cut off. Links, menus and form fields can be operated using the keyboard alone.

Limitations we know of

Some pictures are general illustrations and carry a short alternative text rather than a detailed description.

Reporting a barrier

If you encounter a barrier on this website, or cannot obtain information that you require, please inform us by email at [email protected] or by telephone on 01743 358 214. It helps if you identify the page, describe what happened and mention the browser or assistive technology you were using. We aim to respond within five working days.

Preparation of this statement

The present statement was prepared on 27 October 2026 on the basis of our own internal assessment. We inspected the principal page types with a keyboard, at an increased zoom setting and with a screen reader; no external audit was commissioned. The statement is reviewed once a year and after any substantial change to the website.
