This policy explains how reporton uses cookies and similar storage technologies on reporton.org: which categories are involved, how your choice is recorded in the browser and how it can be changed later.
About cookies and browser storage
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device so that it can tell your browser apart from others and keep settings between visits. Browsers also offer a local storage area that holds entries in a similar way; whenever this policy speaks of cookies, such entries are included.
Categories used on this website
Only a few entries are needed to run this website, which presents information and contact details rather than an account area or an online shop. Strictly necessary entries keep the pages usable and secure and include any value that remembers a decision about a cookie notice; for them no consent is required under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
The server that delivers this website sets one cookie of this kind. It contains only a random value, nothing that identifies you by name, and serves to recognise a returning browser and to protect the site against automated abuse. The cookie is renewed whenever you come back and is deleted 30 days after your last visit.
Tracking, profiling and data protection
We use no advertising cookies, no marketing pixels and no trackers that follow visitors to other websites, and information from your visit is not sold or passed on for advertising. Where it can be related to a person, our privacy policy explains the legal bases, the storage periods and your rights.
Consent and the cookie notice
Where a cookie notice is displayed, the only thing it saves is your answer, agreement or refusal, as one value in the local storage of the browser you are using (localStorage), after which it stays hidden. It appears again in a different browser or on a different device, and wherever storage is blocked.
How long entries are stored
Session entries disappear when the browser window is closed, while others are given a set lifetime so that a preference survives until you come back. The answer saved by the cookie notice does not expire and remains until you or your browser remove it.
Changing your choice later
Consent given earlier can be withdrawn at any time, as easily as it was given: clear the data this website has stored in your browser and open a page again, so the saved answer is gone and, where a notice is shown, you can decide once more. Independently of that, every common browser offers settings for cookies and site data, where stored entries can be inspected or deleted.
Updates to this policy and questions
This policy is amended whenever the technologies used on reporton.org change or new rules make it necessary, and the current version, with the date of its last revision, is always the one on this page.
